20th CENTURY DESIGN  I have been a specialist dealer in Art Deco, Art Nouveau and the Arts and Crafts Movement for 20 years. Originality and authenticity are vital to me. I contributed the chapters ART DECO furniture and ceramics to Judith Miller’s book ’20th Century Design’ and have vetted the decorative arts sections of the Miller’s Antiques Price Guide.

I studied Decorative Arts at Sotheby’s Institute in London and met my husband, John. We opened The Design Gallery in Westerham, Kent in 2002, and have now moved The Design Gallery to the 3000 sq.ft. Showroom and Warehouse at Starborough Farm in Marsh Green, Edenbridge. Here you can find iconic examples of Arts and Crafts Movement, Gothic Revival, Art Nouveau and Art Deco furniture, lighting, ceramics, glass, sculpture, objets and jewellery. We are open Wednesdays to Saturdays 10am-5pm, and on other days by appointment 01959 561234. 

In 2016, we launched Period Designs at Decorex. This is a bespoke furniture service which has found many devotees amongst the interior design community and with our clients who are looking for fine quality, hand-crafted pieces. The Art Deco Contemporary Collection includes 20 unique designs. 

As a writer, I love to research and have been fortunate to be a staff editor, writer and stylist at The Times, Hello!, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Country Living and The Daily Express, working as a fashion editor and health and beauty director. I art directed/styled shoots with David Bailey, Clive Arrowsmith, Tony McGee, Mario Testino, Kate Moss and many other fashion luminaries. I wrote 6 books on well-being and beauty.

As a co-founder of an events & PR agency, one of my proudest achievements was securing £100,000 from Boots for a mass-participation charity event that went onto to raise over £1 million for The Royal Marsden Cancer Trust.
