SPECIALIST VALUATIONS AND SALES SERVICE We offer a Valuations Service in specialist categories here at Desirable Designs UK. The items we can value and potentially sell for you include: Art Deco; Art Nouveau; Arts and Crafts Movement; 20th Century Design – including good quality furniture, lighting, ceramics, glass, sculpture, silver objects and Art. Fine Jewellery and Designer Vintage Jewellery; Designer Fashion and Handbags, Handbag charms, Belts.
Here’s how:
1. Email your photographs to: chrissie@desirabledesigns.co.uk Please show the whole object from several angles; the base; the interior; any signatures or maker’s marks; any damage. Include all of the details you can about the piece including where you obtained it from – Provenance will help us to identify a mystery piece, to place a suggested value on it and to assist you with selling it.
2. FREE APPRAISAL: My initial appraisal of your item or items is FREE OF CHARGE. This usually involves searching specialist databases, auction results and any retail prices we can find.
3. SPECIAL PIECES: Where your piece warrants further research, we make a charge of £45 per hour (including VAT) for an agreed number of hours.
4. COMMISSION on SALE: If you would like the personalised service of identifying the best ways to sell your pieces, we discuss a reasonably priced Commission on the Final Sale and the process of sending your piece to auction or of our listing it on portals, or offering it direct to clients.
As an expert in 19th and 20th Century design, I have bought and sold thousands of pieces and have run The Design Gallery with my husband, John Masters for 24 years. I am widely connected with auction house specialists, the market values and collectors
February 2025: I have valued a collection of 350 pieces of antique silver and gold tableware, vinaigrettes, snuff boxes, vestas, desk accessories and objects of virtue for a loyal client and am now are arranging a sale of the entire collection.
March 2025: A collection of designer 1980s fashion and jewellery is being appraised for a long-term client with a view to arranging a special evaent to achieve the best prices.
